Day 11 – Siem Reap

Day 1 – Hanoi
Arrive in Hanoi airport where you are greeted and transferred to your hotel to check in. Afterwards enjoy sightseeing in Hanoi with a visit to the Museum of Ethnology, containing art and artifacts from the 54 different ethnic groups that inhabit the country. Continue to Hoan Kiem Lake which contains an islet with the tiny Tortoise Pagoda. From there, venture on to explore the Old Quarter. This fascinating network of narrow alleys and shop houses is also known as The 36 Streets, each street being named after the merchandise traditionally sold there, ranging from fabrics, crafts, medicines and even tombstones, the Old Quarter is a fascinating area to explore local life. Overnight in Hanoi

Day 2 – Hanoi – Halong
This morning visit the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s very first university. Afterwards explore the vast Ho Chi Minh Memorial Complex with a stroll past the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum which contains the embalmed body of Ho Chi. View the outside of the Presidential Palace and then walk through the park to the Ho Chi Minh Stilt House. Continue to the miniature 11th century One Pillar Pagoda which was rebuilt after being destroyed by the French in 1954. Then drive to Halong Bay. Overnight in Halong

Day 3 – Halong – Hanoi – Danang – Hoi An
Enjoy a boat cruise through the majestic Halong Bay with lunch served on board as you cruise through the incredible limestone karsts of Halong Bay. After lunch, paddle through islets: Stone Dog, Incense Burner (Dinh Huong), and Fighting Cock (Ga Choi) Finally, touch the majesty of Halong bay by visiting Thien Cung (Heaven) cave on a guided walking highlighting the incredible natural artwork inside. Continue to explore the areas of Ba Hang by bamboo rowing boat or kayaking yourself. Back to the boat and sail back to Tuan Chau island, end of the program. Then drive back to Hanoi for your flight to Danang where you journey south past the Marble Mountains and small villages towards to Hoi An. Overnight in Hoi An

Day 4 – Hoi An
Hoi An, a picturesque riverside town, was one of South East Asia’s major international ports during the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. Embark on a walking tour too see many of the town’s highlights. Including the Japanese Covered Bridge, The Sa Huynh Museum which houses exhibitions from the earliest period of Hoi An’s history, Chapel, Assembly Hall and Chinese pagoda.  Also visit a Lantern Making Workshop. You will also ride a bicycle to Tra Que herb village. Where you will join in traditional gardening activities, have lunch, you learn how to harvest and wrap the vegetables. Bid farewell to your host family before riding back to your hotel. Overnight in Hoi An

Day 5 – Hoi An – Hue
From Hoi An drive towards Danang, stopping en route at Marble Mountains. Riddled with caves and shrines, they are said to each represent one of the five elements of the universe. Continue to Danang, passing Non Nuoc Beach, before visiting the Cham Museum which houses the finest collection of Cham sculpture in the world. Continue along steep mountainous roads with spectacular views of the coastline, crossing the dramatic Hai Van Pass, to arrive in Hue. This city houses ancient temples, imperial buildings and French-style edifices. In Hue visit the Imperial Tomb of Tu Duc. Take some time to soak in the tranquil atmosphere, and wander among the gracefully proportioned pavilions, courtyards and lotus ponds. Afterwards visit a local market the Dong Ba Market. Overnight in Hue

Day 6 – Hue – Saigon
Embark on a local boat and cruise down the Pefume River to the iconic Thien Mu Pagoda, an elegant seven-tiered octagonal tower which has become Hue’s most widely recognizable monuments. Visit the Imperial Citadel by cyclo, a vast complex built in the early 19th century and modelled after the Forbidden City of Peking. The original walls stretched for 10 kilometres and were surrounded by a wide moat. Finally visit the Hue Royal Antiquities Museum before transferring to the airport for your flight to Saigon. Overnight in Saigon

Day 7 – Saigon
A vibrant metropolis, Saigon teems with energy, activity and motion. Everywhere you look, you see the convergence of traditional and modern life. Begin with a tour of the historic centre. Pass by classic European-style landmarks such as the ornate City Hall, the old Opera House, the Notre Dame Cathedraland the Central Post Office. Afterwards dive into modern history with a tour of the Reunification Palace, this 60s style building was famously stormed by tanks on April 30, 1975 signifying the fall of South Vietnam. Continue to the harrowing War Remnants Museum. Then visit the Emperor of Jade Pagoda, one of Saigon’s most interesting pagodas. In the afternoon, head out to Cholon (Chinatown), beginning with a walking tour and Soai Kinh Lam market, Cha Tam Church and Thien Hau Pagoda. End the day at the central Ben Thanh Market, where vendors display a vast array of goods and handicrafts, appealing to every taste. Overnight in Saigon

Day 8 – Saigon – Phnom Penh
After breakfast enjoy the morning at your leisure * No local guide * before transferring to the airport for your flight to Phnom Penh. Phnom Penh, a chaotic, energetic and always fascinating city. Graceful tree-lined boulevards and riverfront promenades are reminders of bygone eras; today they teem with life and activity, as motorcycles weave in and out of traffic, vendors hawk their wares, and pedestrians go about their business. Overnight in Phnom Penh

Day 9 – Phnom Penh – Siem Reap
Explore Phnom Penh and gain insight into Cambodia’s cultural heritage with a visit to the Royal Palace, still the official residence of King Norodom Sihamoi and the Silver Pagoda, also known as the Pagoda of the Emerald Buddha. Continue to the elegant National Museum, which contains a comprehensive collection of Khmer Art. Finally, explore the modern-day city, visiting one of Phnom Penh’s two great markets, the Central Market, or sprawling Russian Market, a labyrinth of stalls selling everything from CDs and DVDs to silks, crafts, jewelry and more. Transfer to the airport for your flight to Siem Reap, home to the famous and UNESCO listed Angkor Wat temples. Overnight in Siem Reap

Day 10 – Siem Reap
This morning visit Banteay Srei Temple, seemingly miniature in comparison to the other Angkor temples, Banteay Srei is considered to be the jewel of classical Khmer art. Built in pink sandstone, the walls are covered in exquisitely preserved carvings of unusual delicacy. Next Banteay Samre, a mid-12th century temple dedicated to the god Vishnu. Continue to Ta Prohm one of the most popular attractions of Angkor as the jungle swalllows the temple. Other stops include Prasat Kravan, Banteay Kdei Temple, Ta Keo and Thommanon. This evening watch the sun set over the Cambodian countryside from the upper terraces of an ancient Angkorian temple. Overnight in Siem Reap

Day 11 – Siem Reap
This morning visit Angkor Wat, the crown jewel of Khmer architecture, Angkor Wat is the national symbol and the highlight of any visit to Cambodia. On the way, stop to enjoy the intricate stone carvings that adorn nearly every surface of the temple, with some 1,700 Apsaras, or celestial dancers, sculpted from the walls. Angkor Wat is stunning at any time of the day, but sunrise and sunset are especially beautiful times to watch the play of light on the stones. Next visit the fortified city of Angkor Thom which covers an area of 10 square km. Enclosed by a wall and wide moats; the city includes many of Angkor’s most popular sights. Enter by the monumental South Gate over a causeway lined on either side by statues of demons and gods, each carrying a giant naga. Continue to the Terrace of the Elephants, the Terrace of the Leper Kings, the ruined Baphuon, Royal Enclosure and Phimeanakas. Lastly the mysterious Bayon Temple. In this temple, where giant stone faces smiling enigmatically down from every angle. Transfer to the airport for your departure flight
