Day 1 – Hanoi
Arrive in Hanoi where you are greeted and transferred to your hotel to check in. Although it is the modern-day capital of Vietnam, Hanoi still retains the mystery and charm of past centuries, with its narrow lanes and traditional shop houses. The rest of the day is at your leisure. Overnight in Hanoi

Day 2 – Hanoi

Today visit the Museum of Ethnology which showcases art, traditional clothing and reconstructions of traditional longhouses from 54 different ethnic groups. Next the Temple of Literature Vietnam’s first university and the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Complex where the Vietnamese people honour the country Great Father. View the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Ho Chi Minh’s Stilt House and One Pillar Pagoda. Before enjoying coffee at Hoan Kiem Lake with the tiny Tortoise Pagoda.
This evening enjoy a traditional Water Puppet Show, a fantastic art form originating in northern Vietnam. Then transfer to the train station to take an overnight train to Lao Cai

Day 3 – Lao Cai – Sapa

Transfer to Sapa and enjoy breakfast at your hotel before setting off on a trek to Ma Tra and Ta Phin villages. The trek follows a trail through spectacular scenery of beautiful countryside, lush pine forests and paddy fields. Stroll through Matra, a hidden Black Hmong ethnic minority village that seems far from civilization. In Ta Phin village see the Black Hmong and Red Dao minorities, two large ethnic groups recognizable by their distinctive dress and handicrafts. Have the chance to visit local houses and some nearby caves before returning to Sapa by vehicle. Overnight in Sapa

Day 4 – Sa Pa

Drive to the village of Lao Chai, where the trek begins. Visit the Hmong, Dzay and Dzao people, while enjoying spectacular scenery of terraced rice paddies, and the small bamboo forests that are unique to the northern region. From Ta Van, continue to Giang Ta Chai, another minority village populated by Hmong and Dzay. Then transfer back to Sapa. Overnight in Sapa

Day 5 – Sapa – Hanoi – Danang

Drive from Sapa to Hanoi then transfer to the airport for your flight to Danang. Overnight in Danang

Day 6 – Danang – Hoi An

Drive past small villages and Marble Mountains towards Hoi An. A picturesque riverside town, Hoi An was one of South East Asia’s major international ports during the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. Begin on a walking tour to see many of the town’s highlights including the Japanese Covered Bridge, constructed in 1593. Visit Sa Huynh Museum housing exhibitions from the earliest period of Hoi An’s history. Wander into the Tran Family Chapel, a 200 year old house built for worshipping ancestors and Phuoc Kien Assembly Hall, a Chinese pagoda built around 1690. Lastly visit a Lantern Making Workshop to see how these traditional lanterns are made. Overnight in Hoi An

Day 7 – Hoi An – Hue

Today drive to Hue via the Hai Van Pass with scenic mountain roads and spectacular views over the coastline. Stop en route in Lang Co, a lovely stretch of beach curving outwards between a clear blue lagoon before arriving in Hue. Spend the morning on a leisurely bicycle ride to discover beautiful homes, temples and way of life in these remote villages. Continue by vehicle to the peaceful La Chu village located on the bank of the Bo River. Cycle through tranquil local villages, among rice paddies and alongside the riverside as you observe locals going about their daily activities. Learn how a local culinary specialty, pancake is made. Continue cycling through the rice fields, local market and vegetable farms, stopping at a local home for a cooking demonstration and lunch. Overnight in Hue

Day 8 – Hue

Embark on a local boat to cruise the Perfume River towards the iconic Thien Mu Pagoda. This elegant seven-tiered octagonal tower has become Hue’s most widely recognizable monuments. Visit the Imperial Citadel, a vast complex built in the early 19th century and modeled after the Forbidden City of Peking. The original walls stretched for 10 km and were surrounded by a wide moat. Head to the Hue Royal Antiquities Museum. Lastly visit a local market Dong Ba Market near the Imperial City. Overnight in Hue

Day 9 – Hue – Saigon

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Saigon. A vibrant metropolis, Saigon teems with energy, activity and motion. Begin with a tour of the Reunification Palace. Formerly the Independence Palace of the South Vietnamese president, this 60s style building was famously stormed by tanks on April 30, 1975 signifying the fall of South Vietnam. Afterwards, drive to the historic centre to the Emperor of Jade Pagoda, one of Saigon’s most interesting pagodas. Next the neo-Romanesque Notre Dame Cathedral, Central Post Office, City Hall and Opera House. The day ends at Ben Thanh Market, where vendors display a vast array of goods and handicrafts. Overnight in Saigon

Day 10 – Saigon

Today head to the Cu Chi Tunnels, never discovered by American forces, the Cu Chi Tunnels were an important Vietcong base during the American War. Stretching over 200 km, this incredible underground network has connected command posts, hospitals, shelter and weapons factories. Learn about the day to day life of the Vietcong, bear witness to the cleverly disguised entrances and elaborate booby-traps, and even venture inside the tunnels. Enjoy the afternoon at your leisure. Overnight in Saigon

Day 11 – Saigon – Cai Be – Vinh Long – Can Tho

This morning drive to Cai Be and enjoy a boat trip through the river and numerous arroyos of the Mekong Delta. Stopping at local workshops to learn how rice paper, coconut candy, pop-rice and pop-corn are made. Head deeper into the countryside by rowing boat and witness the daily life of local people. Cycle on village paths visiting local farms to experience the ancestral lifestyle of the rural peasantry and the chance to enjoy fruits and traditional music. Afterwards head to Vinh Long and drive to Can Tho. Overnight in Can Tho

Day 12 – Can Tho – Saigon

This morning board a boat as you journey along the River Can Tho to see the very nature of the Mekong delta. Stop at Cai Rang Floating market and feel the excitement and sounds of this bustling market. With many local products and a variety of fruit sold here some of which you might have never seen before. Each boat hanging a sample off the top of a long pole to identify what they are selling. Drive back to Saigon. Overnight in Saigon

Day 13 – Saigon

After breakfast morning at your leisure before transferring to the airport for your departure flight.
