There’s no arguing
Hanoi has to be the coolest city in Vietnam. And no, we’re not just referring to the climate. This chaotic, colourful, motorbike-clogged, 1,000-year-old city is a delicious mix of East and West. Hanoi clings on tightly to its heritage, best seen in the Old Quarter
a maze of narrow alleyways that date back to the 13th century. There’s picturesque lakes and parks, as well as museums and prominent colonial buildings. We’ll go green and explore by electric cart with lots of stops to take photos. Today’s Highlights: Electric cart ride
A home-cooked meal in Hanoi
Nothing beats home cooking! A local family in Hanoi will throw open the doors of their home and invite us to join them in a delicious home cooked meal. We’ll chat and learn all about their cuisine, traditions and customs. Listening to their personal stories will give us an intimate insight into their life. After dinner we’ll move upstairs to the cozy living room where the family will play traditional music on handmade instruments. Flight by seaplane from Hanoi to Halong with scenic views
Departing from Noi Bai Domestic airport on the seaplane, enjoy fabulous aerial view of the bay with jade green water surface dotted with countless karst pillars representing the legendary dragon’s back. Enjoy the experience of water landing at Tuan Chau Island Marina. (The flight is subject to weather condition. In case of last minute cancelation of the flight, ICS will refund the flight fare and arrange back up vehicle for the transfer to Ha Long at regular charge.)
Cruise aboard the Paradise Sails through Halong Bay, day 1 of 2 (English speaking guide is included) * No local guide *
Arrive at Tuan Chau Island. Transfer to cruise ship. Welcome drink – cruise briefing, safety instructions, check-in cabins. Depart to Halong Bay – cruise and programme commence. Enjoy lunch while the cruise sails passing by magnificent sceneries of the World Heritage site. In the afternoon, explore Sung Sot cave, hiking up and down 600 steps to the magnificent limestone formations of the biggest and most marvelous cave in Halong bay or enjoy kayaking (with supplement) around the islets. Day 3 cabin / onboard (Vietnam) – Halong – Hanoi (Breakfast: Hotel )
Join an early morning Tai Chi session on the sundeck while tea, coffee and assorted pastries are being served. Relax on board or go visit Titov island. Back on board enjoy breakfast, check out and return to Tuan Chau Island.

Excursion around Hanoi by Vespa (Clients who wish to book and participate in this activity will be requested to sign an ICS release form either prior to arrival or on the ground before commencing the tour)
Hanoi really comes alive after dark, and what better way to explore than riding pillion on a vintage Vespa. Hop on, and off we zoom around the maze of narrow twisty streets that make up the Old Quarter. We’ll stop to take in the sights and sample a delicious glass of lemon-tea with sunflower seeds. Then it’s time to rub shoulders with the young Hanoians in some of the popular bars. We can listen to the sounds of live unplugged music or take to the mike ourselves with a spot of karaoke! Day 4 Hanoi – Danang – Hoi An (Breakfast: Hotel )
Walk the Rail Tracks of Hanoi
From Phung Hung Street we will start our exploration on foot. We will walk towards Long Bien train station, cross the bridge and take the stairs down onto the urban island. There’s time for a well-earned rest and to visit the orchards. After crossing the bridge, we can either transfer by car or walk to Gia Lam train station. Train tickets in hand, we will board the train to cross over the bridge to the other side of Hanoi. This is a local train full of atmosphere, and we will be riding with the locals in the hard seater wagon. On week days the train will stop at Long Bien, while on Saturday and Sunday it will stop at Hanoi Station.

Sightseeing in Hoi An
Pretty as a picture Hoi An! The quirky mix of Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese and European influences make this ancient town a photographers’ paradise. We’ll walk through the narrow winding streets past ochre-hued stone houses, lantern-filled shops and colourful fishing boats. One of the most iconic sights is the Japanese Covered Bridge. There are also ancient temples and merchant homes over 200 years old. Today’s Highlights: Japanese Covered Bridge, Sa Huynh Museum, Tran Family Chapel, Phuoc Kien Assembly Hall, Lantern Making Workshop

Prickly pear, spikey cacti, twisting trees, huge boulders – this is the wildly beautiful landscape of the Nui Chua National Park. We’ll make a short trek through the area to take advantage of all the photo opportunities. In Thai An village we’ll visit a garlic farm and a vineyard to find out how grapes thrive in this hot dry weather. Today’s Highlights: Trek in Nui Chua National Park, vineyard, Thai An village

Side Car City Tour
This is not your usual sightseeing transport. Like something out of a 1940’s movie we’ll be enjoying unobstructed views from the sidecar of a classic motorbike! We’ll pull over to see the tomb of Le Van Duyet. Stop for photos in front of the Notre Dame Cathedral and the Central Post Office. We’ll stretch our legs with a tour of the former president’s palace, renamed as the Reunification Hall. We’ll breathe in the aromas of the freshly cut blooms on a walk through the wholesale flower market. As the grand finale to this glamorous tour, we’ll visit the secret bunker where North Vietnamese agents kept their weapons for surprise attacks in 1968. Hidden Saigon at Night
We’ll experience at night at the opera – the Saigon Opera House, built by the French in 1898. We’ll watch a fascinating and energetic cultural show that blends contemporary dance with traditional folk music and breathtaking acrobatics. After the show we’ll sit outside among the locals to sample authentic Vietnamese street food. The evening ends in a hidden coffee shop to listen to local musicians performing Vietnamese and Western songs. Day 13 Saigon – Cai Be – cabin / onboard (Vietnam) (Breakfast: Hotel / Lunch: Song Xanh Cruise / Dinner: Song Xanh Cruise )

Begin cruising from Phu An Jetty at 10:00 am. From the sampan, observe life as it plays out on shore – people going about their daily activities against picturesque landscapes – while your attentive crew serves tea and seasonal fruit. Before arriving at Sa Dec, stop at various points along the river for a look into some of the cottage industries of the region including a brick factory where everything is made by hand, pass monkey bridges and tiny villages to visit a Cao Dai temple. Arrive in Sa Dec and stroll to the outdoor market. Visit one of the highlights of the charming town, the ancient house of Huynh Thuy Le, a real-life character in the celebrated novel and film “The Lover” by Marguerite Duras. Lunch is served on board while cruising towards Can Tho along a narrow canal teeming with life. Explore the countryside surroundings by local rowboat. Your last stopover before sunset is at an ancient house (a “Nha Co” in Vietnamese), dating back to the 19th century. The owner will welcome you and a candlelit dinner is served in this authentic countryside setting. After dinner return on board while the Song Xanh continues its cruise towards the Hau River. Early wake-up for visiting CAI RANG FLOATING MARKET. Breakfast on board while the Song Xanh navigates towards the market among local barges laden with fruit and vegetables. Cruise towards Victoria Can Tho and disembark at the hotel’s private jetty.
