Malino Highland
Malino Highland is a small hill town resort in the Gowa district of South Sulawesi, 90 km from Makassar famous for its tropical flowers. There are many beautiful waterfalls such as Air Terjun Seribu Tangga or thousand stairs waterfall and Takapala Waterfall. In addition, there is also a tea garden, blue valleys and Japanese bunkers heritage. Malino Highland is located in Tinggimoncong District, Gowa regency, and it located approximately 80 km from the city of Makassar and it takes 3 hour drive.
At an altitude of 1,200 above sea level, this highland is area of 200 hectares stretching to the garden tea plantations and lush green that makes it a favorite place for visitors who like photography or those who like to enjoy the natural scenery from a height. The all-green nuance in mountainous areas and hilly land becomes the main attraction for visitors.
Malino Highland are very rich with limestone scenery and pine. Various kinds of beautiful tropical plants, grow and thrive in this cold city. Moreover, Malino also produces fruits and vegetables that grow in typical mountain slopes Bawakaraeng. Most people of South Sulawesi still see mengkulturkan mountain as a sacred place.
The cool climate and fresh air of the Malino Highlands were once the weekend retreat of choice for the Dutch settlers. It’s cool and clean air makes the Malino Highlands an ideal place for tea plantation.
The Takapala Waterfalls are impressive with a 50-meter drop. It is one of the few waterfalls at Malino but in terms of size and sheer power, this remains the most impressive one. The fertile soil and abundance of water around the waterfall have created excellent soil for rice cultivation; when harvesting season arrives, a verdant green landscape makes the area around the Takapala Waterfalls even more beautiful.
