Don Khone
Don Khone is a relatively small island next to and connected to the even smaller but better known Don Det, but is more upmarket, quieter and with less of the party crowd found on Don Det.
Visit the spectacular Li Phi waterfalls are on the north west corner of the island.
The southernmost tourist destination in Laos, Don Khone also holds the majority of Si Phan Don/the 4000 Islands’ natural and historic attractions. It has been able to retain a more authentically Lao charm.
Travelling by boat in this area is very picturesque as the islands are covered in coconut palms, flame trees, stands of bamboo, kapok trees and hardwoods.
The Mekong, south of Don Khone, is one of the few places in the world where it is possible to see freshwater dolphins. The dolphins are an endangered species that are found in this southern Mekong region.
Beautiful sunsets and the place is friendly and very, very relaxed.
Li Phi Falls is not impressive waterfall by it’s height, but the width and the amazing amount of water running downhill.
