Pyin Oo Lwin
Pyin Oo Lwin is a city in Central Myanmar. Once the summer capital of the Raj in Burma. Pyin Oo Lwin has the look of the ‘hill station’ cities like Darjeeling and Simla in India from the 1960s and 1970s. The city surrondings are very green. With the comforting climate it a pleasant atmosphere for some days to chill out.
Quiet, friendly, and easy to explore by bicycle, with some nice scenery. It was the summer capital for the British colonial administration. The area has become famous for its fruit, jams and fruit wines.
Colourful horsedrawn carriages are the taxis.
The Botanical Gardens, feature an orchid house. Also wide expanses of manicured grass, large flowerbeds, rose gardens and natural forest.
The Pwe Gauk falls are east of Pyin Oo Lwin. The falls are a series of small waterfalls and a popular place for the locals.
