Kengtung
Kengtung is a town in Eastern Myanmar where hill treks are a major attraction. A picturesque towns built on low hills around Naung Tung Lake.
Local hilltribes include Akha, Ann, Lahu, Lahu Shi and Wa. The Kyaingtong are closer in their culture to the hill towns of northern Thailand.
Once known as the capital of the Golden Triangle. Today it is one of the remotest parts of Myanmar that allow tourists to visit.
The town has more then 40 monasteries known as wats. The monks wear both orange and red robes, reflecting the close cultural links to Thailand. Kengtung market a fascinating place to soak up the local atmosphere.
