Luang Prabang
Luang Prabang is the former capital of Laos and is now a UNESCO World Heritage city. Set at the confluence of two rivers and beneath a temple-topped hill, Luang Prabang is a wonderful patchwork of traditional Lao wooden houses and hints of European architecture; reminders of when Laos was part of the French colony of Indochina.
Golden-roofed wats, decorated with mosaics and murals of the life of Buddha, sit under the gaze of wrap-around teak balconies and 19th century shuttered windows.
The charming city of Luang Prabang, once the capital of Laos and still considered to be its spiritual heart. It is the oldest Laotian town still in existence.
In December 1995, the entire town of Luang Prabang was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The UNESCO report identified 33 temples and 111 historic Lao-French buildings for specific restoration, citing Luang Prabang as the best- preserved traditional town in Southeast Asia.
One of Asia’s most captivating and classically stylish cities.
An enchanting town filled with historic temples and colonial style buildings.
