Travelling in February
This month the weather is perfect – dry, warm, sunny – perfect time for a holiday. Early in the months rates are higher but by the end of the first week rates are starting to fall from “peak season” but overall, rates in South East Asia are cheaper than the rest of the world. In Thailand and neighbouring countries this month is the peak dry season. The Lunar New Year sometimes occurs in February.

Thailand: Full Moon Party
On the island of Koh Phangan.
Laos: Boun Ma Kha Bu Saar (Full Moon)
This celebration commenorates a speech given by the Buddha in which he laid down the first monastic regulations and predicted his own death. The speech was heard by 1250 enlightened monks who arrived without prior summons. The festival is to celebrate with chanting and presenting offering carious Vat throughout the country. The biggest celebrations take place at the Khmer ruins of Vat Phu Champasack.

Witness the beautiful flower-decorated floats, ladies in the Flower Queen Beauty Pageant and the flower arrangement contest in this highly-anticipated colorful season in the North.
Myanmar: Nyan Taw Pagoda Festival
It is one of the most popular festivals in Pyin Oo Lwin. Shan and other ethnic groups come down from the hills to visit the festival and buy in the markets.
